Tweety Gets Political

While our favorite feathered friend likes to stay out of the political fringe, when the subject at hand is a star-studded event in support of giving animals room to stretch their limbs, even Tweety can't help but chirp with delight!  This past Saturday night, September 28, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi were co-hosts of the Yes on Proposition 2 bash in Los Angeles, and all of the stars came out to shine for the cause.  We here in New York City aren't intimately aware of the nuances of this particular proposition, but it's our understanding that it's a modest measure to prevent cruelty to animals and ensures that all animals (even those bread for consumption) have room to turn around and stretch their limbs while in their cages...coming from the perspective of a little birdy that spent much of early childhood in Granny's loving cage, this sounds like a pretty good deal.  And of course, as with all A-list Hollywood events, more than a few stars embraced the vibrant yellow of Tweety.  HeatherGraham

2nd Bourbon Cocktail Send-oof

Getting back into the swing of things after the long summer, buckling down at work, getting our fall wardrobes prepped, has left us a bit ragged around the edges. There's no better way to relax than with a bourbon cocktail.

Since we found out that September was National Bourbon Month well into the month, we would like to offer another bourbon drink suggestion.

If last week's drink was a bit on the complicated side, this time we kept things simple. Enjoy this Bourbon Highball with Tweety!

Bourbon Highball

2 oz Bourbon

Ginger Ale or Club Soda

Fill highball glass with Bourbon, ginger ail or club soda, and ice cubes. Add twist of lemon peel, if desired, and stir.

Brooke For Tweety!

Brooke Shields seemed to be on everyone Best Dressed list at this year's Emmys. Since childhood, her stunning good looks have never let her down, and she is experiencing a surge in popularity with her new show "Lipstick Jungle."

Here at Tweety HQ, we can report that Brooke also looks stunning off the red carpet, too. Brooke appeared effortlessly chic and relaxed during rehearsals the day before the Emmys. Amid all of the activity backstage, Tweety captured her attention!! We were ecstatic that she took a liking to Tweety Fine Jewelry (although not surprised!). She even modeled some of Tweety's Diamond Daisy Earrings.

Brooke has also stepped into the fashion world recently, guest judging on "Project Runway." She knows good design when she sees it!

It's Always Sunny At Home

We're always looking for ways to bring Tweety into our home. The most obvious way is loading up on yellow home accessories—but we won't sacrifice style! While we've been documenting the proliferation of canary yellow fashions this week, we've also been alerted to some new, sunny accents that have just arrived for home. Head over to CB2 (the hip, contemporary sister to Crate & Barrel) for more Tweety-yellow inspired creations.

Some of our favorites include this little lamp (would look so cute on a small table or on the floor):

Yellow POPS at the Emmys

At this year's 60th Annual Emmy Awards, no fewer than five starlets donned canary yellow dresses for their big entrances. Their color choice popped on the red carpet, especially amid the sea of traditional black gowns. Do the ladies of Hollywood have Tweety on the mind?—We think so! This trend defied seasonal expectations and confirmed that yellow is definitely the color of the moment (yet again!).

Mariska Hargitay's yellow asymmetrical Carolina Herrera gown was both and extremely flattering.

Teri Hatcher's strapless, ruffled Monique Lhuillier did wonders for her brunette coloring.

Cocktail Send Off--Bourbon Drinks for All!

Fall is one of the best times of the year. A scarf around your neck, Tweety by your side, and you're good to get out and have fun. One of the more unusual distinctions September has to boast about is that it is National Bourbon Heritage month. Bourbon!

Ky_Bourbon_barrel

In all seriousness, last year the US Senate passed a resolution sponsored by Senator Jim Bunning from Kentucky that declared September National Bourbon Heritage Month. While there's some debate if bourbon can be truly be called "America's Native Spirit," it is certainly is a distinctive and delicious US product. In honor of Senator Bunning, we would like to recommend the bourbon cocktail "Kentucky Kiss."

• 1 oz strawberry puree
• 1/2 oz lemon juice
• 1/2 oz maple syrup

Cocktail for a rainy day

With the first waves of autumn’s coolness sneaking in here at Tweety HQ, I find myself retuning from my summer vacation jealous of Tweety’s built in feather coat.  Ahh…the bliss of being able to adapt to climate change with out having to rush to the mall every season.  For those of us without feathers, I suggest drinking something hot to avoid catching the nasty cold that seems to be running its way through New York City.  Rainy days call for keeping warm and Fridays call for booze, so here is a recipe for a “Hot Tottie,” courtesy of Group Recipes.  Tweety on the other hand, who stays warm even in the rain, may want to try whipping up an iced batch of this tea (also delicious), and enjoy the second to last weekend of summer.

Weekend Cocktail Sendoff

There is nothing more difficult than heading back to work after a long weekend.  Although it seems easier in theory, since it is a four day work week instead of five, the actual truth is you are still way to tired out from all the boozing and BBQ-ing you did last Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night.  Oh wait, was that just me?!  I definitely experienced a double "Case of the Mondays" this past Tuesday, making my week o' so long.  Now, I can once again say TGIF, and enjoy one of the last weekends left in summer with a nice piture of margaritas.  Why margaritas you ask?  Becasue that is what I am in the mood for.  I suggest you kick back with whatever it is that has your pallate salvating.  Enjoy!

Oh, and after stuffing my face last weekend, I was de-lighted (pun intended) to find this zero cal recipe courtesy of Our BlubHer Overhaul.

Weekly Cocktail Send Off: Homage to Hurricane Gustav

While we here at Tweety H.Q. usually like our cocktails to pay homage to our yellow feathered friend, all kinds of chicks are going to be trying to keep their feathers dry this weekend when Hurricane Gustav comes through town.  So, while we're all snug in our nests avoiding the downpour,  what better way to entertain ourselves than cozying up to a delicious Hurricane Cocktail, compliments of the famous Pat O'Brien bar in New Orleans' French Quarter.

Weekly Cocktail Send Off (With Zest!)

Good afternoon, Tweety lovers! We're at the end of another long week, and it's time for your weekly cocktail send-off. Frankly, we could a little refreshment, a little pep in our step. Good thing someone came up with this drink:

Espanola Sour

2 ounces Square One Organic Vodka
2 tsp. organic marmalade
1 ounce freshly squeezed lemon juice
1 tsp. agave nectar
lemon basil
flamed orange zest

Shake vodka, marmalade, agave nectar and lemon juice with ice.  Double strain into an ice filled Collins glass.  Garnish with flamed orange zest, lemon slice and lemon basil.

Cow_espanola

This beverage is sure to revive you! Its mixture of sweet and sour freshness goes great with a Tweety cocktail ring. Not to mention the obvious color connection!
