The Lychee Martini

We bring you a more unusual weekend cocktail sendoff this week per the specific request of our lovely yellow feathered leader Tweety.  Tweety had a specific craving for a perfect lychee martini.  Sweet and strong, Tweety has always been a lover of the rare but delicious cocktail.  Of course, there is only one place to get a perfect lychee martini, and that is at the famous Tao restaurant located in the Venetian hotel in Las Vegas.  (Tweety could pay a visit to the NYC Toa location, but lets face it - it just doesn’t taste as good when you can’t follow up that first sip with a sigh of “Vegas baby!”) Luckily for Tweety, this craving can be filled next week when our beloved birdie flies down to Vegas (first class wing seat) for the annual JCK jewelry trade show.  Even more luckily for Tweety, the trade show is housed in the Venetian Hotel where Tweety has arranged top rate hotel accommodations, and a reservation at the restaurant in mention.  Since this craving fulfillment doesn't happen until next week, Tweety decided to take a crack at a more homemade version of the drinkable treat this week.  Hey, worse comes to worse, it is so bad, that the real thing will taste even better next week.  We found this promising recipe based on another fellow lychee martini fanatic who did some research in order to find the perfect at home recipe.  Enjoy!

Tweety stays fresh in Las Vegas

Las Vegas Nevada is one of the toughest places to stay fresh and brilliant looking. The sun and heat is sometimes unbearable, and the way overly air-conditioned rooms can be just as bad—and that's not even mentioning the plane ride to LV! To stay Tweety's dewy fresh self, Tweety employs a couple of key products. One of the most important areas for Tweety to look after is that precious little beak. For that, Tweety uses Korres Lip Butter in Quince, the perfect shade! To keep that pretty visage looking good, Caudalíe's Vinoperfect day Perfecting Cream with SPF 15 is Tweety's first choice. Making sure those feathers are shinny, that beak is glossy, and that face is protected from the sun are the most important things!

Tweety In Sin City

As a regular globe trotter Tweety is - of course - very familiar with Las Vegas. Like many fellow icons in history, Tweety chooses Vegas as the top spot for entertainment, fashion, and leisure, and on May 30 Tweety will be making an extra special trip to Las Vegas to attend JCK, an enormous and popular jewelry show the where Tweety Fine Jewelry will be on display for the lucky viewers who attend. The diamonds and gemstones in Tweety Fine jewelry shine even brighter under the bright lights of the Vegas strip, and we can’t wait to see the action. Held at the Venetian, Tweety will be staying in a luxe suit at the hotel, where are lovely yellow friend will enjoy the usual celebrity treatment. Getting pampered isn't just for fun, since Tweety will need to stay in tip-top shape to keep a birds eye view over the happenings at the show. Even though it can be difficult, Tweety always seems to make work seem like vacation.

Mimosas for Mom

Since we set you at ease last week with a helping hand toward your weekend cocktail and towards getting the ultimate Mother’s Day gift, we feel there is nothing left to do but give you one last tip for the big celebration! The woman sat in labor for “fill in amount of hours you have been guilt-ed with everyday of your adult life” here, so the least you can do is make a decent effort to get her a good gift and show up to brunch with a smile. That’s right you eye-rollers, check that I-would-rather-be-watching-watching-sports attitude at the door, and show some respect to the woman who cleaned your dirty socks and put food in your tummy. You one task is to make a very large pitcher of mimosas to serve at brunch. The quick acting potion, did we say potion, we mean Champaign, will have you forgetting all about the sports game you have a c-note riding on, and will have mom smiling and even “happier” when she reacts to the lovely Tweety Fine Jewelry you secured last week as her big gift. Between the Tweety Fine Jewelry gift, and the liquor you disguised with OJ, you just bought yourself at least a few months of the good side. Good job son! That a’ boy!

Mix two parts OJ with three parts Champaign. Garnish with orange slice. (Just do it! It will make her happy if the drink looks pretty.)

Tweety's Top Picks for Spring Accessories

Recently, most fashion chicks have been adorning the gutsy yellow fashion our dear Tweety inspired decades ago. Tweety, always a tastemaker, wears a full yellow outfit of yellow, and so as to not over power the look, opts for a less in your face orange color for footwear. Together the yellow ensemble paired with the orange wedges combine to create a very haute couture look. For those of us that can not rise to the fashion standards set by our little yellow feathered friend, we tend to go for small installments of the color de jour, like sparkles of yellow gemstones from Tweety Fine Jewelry, a handful of yellow with a bright new yellow bag, or a first-step in the yellow trend direction with a fun pair of yellow shoes. Yellow jewelry is easy. No other jewelry line is as simultaneously trendy and classic as the Tweety Fine Jewelry collection. For handbags we recommend the lively yellow patent tote from Dooney & Bourke, which is the perfect size for all a gals holdings, and adds a great hue of brightness to an otherwise dull outfit. Finally, for shoes we turn to the Mecca of fashion reporting, W magazine, who favored this easy pair of yellow flip flops from Banana Republic. Hey, we can’t all pull off Tweety’s orange wedges, and the patent shine adds a dash of fanciness to the usual flip flop. With these key accessories, you are on you way to the top of the fashion ladder. Although don’t forget, no one flies higher than our iconic Tweety.

Tweety Weekend Cocktial Sendoff: Mother's Day

So, you are freaking out!  The one random person you know who actually acknowledges May Day was gabbing about their celebratory festivities around the water cooler today, when the thought of May and holidays brought to mind a certain day of acknowledgment for dear old mommy.  So, you finally realized today that you have exactly 9 days and counting to come up with a fantastic idea for a gift, and go out and find, purchase, and wrap this marvelous gift.  Like I said before, you are freaking out! You don’t need a weekend cocktail send off per our usual Friday custom here at Tweety HQ, you need a calm down right now cocktail.

Pick your poison. (Read: gin, vodka, scotch.)  Open bottle.  Pour.  Enjoy.

Then it hits you.  Tweety Fine Jewelry is sure to get your moms eyes to sparkle.  A diamond version of mom’s favorite iconic toon is a brilliant idea. (And by brilliant we mean the diamonds.)  Found at you local retailer, Tweety Fine Jewelry will surly make up for the last minute card you picked up at your local 24 hour drug store twenty minutes before brunch last year. The great idea will have all your siblings jealous, and you will once again reign as the brilliant child.  (And by brilliant we mean you.)

Give a piece of Tweety Fine Jewelry to show your mom just how much you love and appreciate her.  Oh, and now that the crisis is averted you may as well pour another glass.  After all, it is the weekend…

Tweety and the Tour

Since Tweety was a little fledgling on a tricycle, biking has been one of Tweety's favorite pastimes. One of the best parts of the month of May (along with the passing of April showers) is New York's Five Boro Bike Tour. It's the largest recreational cycling event in the United States! Every year on the first Sunday of May, over 40,000 riders participate in the 42 mile ride around New York City, and of course, Tweety is there. And naturally, Tweety has a yellow bike.

Yellowbike

We all know about the yellow jersey of the Tour de France--the maillot jauen worn but the overall time leader, the most prestigious jersey. While appreciating the compliment of their similar yellows, Tweety doesn't bike for competition, just for the love of sport! After all, cycling is a lot like flying, you get to enjoy the wind in your feathers, see the sights, and get some exercise.

Weekend Sendoff: Yellow Fashion

We interrupt our regular scheduled programming to bring you this news breaking update: A full page dedicated to Tweety inspired yellow fashion-must-haves. Ok, so it is not such a deviation from our normal course, since we did bring you – dear readers – a much belated cocktail sendoff on Wednesday. So, while we won’t send you off with a nice drink to enjoy over the weekend, we are sending you off with a shopping list full of all the yellow fashion you need to conquer the yellow trend that is all the rage this spring. With the nice weather making a more permanent appearance these days (although today our tails are a little chilly) we recommend putting down your cocktail, and heading out into the city on a much desired shopping safari. I am sure you will notice that there is no jewelry on this page of Allure’s yellow “fashion cravings.” This is obviously because everyone knows the only choice to enhance yellow fashions are earrings, bracelets, rings, and necklaces from the Tweety Fine Jewelry Collection!

We return back to your regular scheduled programming next week. Have a great weekend!

Tweety Cocktail Sendoff: Earthday

Dearest Tweety Admirers,

We're enjoying an unusual Wednesday cocktail to atone for missing our beloved Friday cocktail sendoff. Tweety has been incredibly busy as of late--celebrating Passover over the weekend, (no we are not sending you a cocktail sendoff of Manoshevitz),  preparing for Earth Day, and enjoying the beautiful spring weather. Started in 1969, Earth Day highlights the importance of environmental preservation, a cause that hits close to home for our nester, Tweety.  Tweety always has one foot in the big city and one foot in nature, so once a year Tweety pays homage to a color other than yellow. Also, what would compliment Tweety's distinctive yellow better than the blue and green of Earth Day? To honor this, we're drinking a blue drink:

Blue Skies:

1 part Absolut Vodka

1 part Blue Curacao

1 part Champagne

1 part Grape Schnapps

Is there anything better than a flying blue skies with lovely Tweety? We didn't think so.

Yellow down to our fingertips...

I walked into my local manicure parlor, in our beloved NYC, and I encountered a somewhat odd experience.  I told the manicurist I wanted a French manicure.  I have been wearing my Tweety Daisy pendant (Tweety Fine Jewelry) in light of the pleasant spring weather that is upon us, and I thought it would look best with a classic French. The manicurist, thinking she was a stylist, said that the next big trend for nails will be a yellow French manicure.  I gave her an odd look, so she explained: put a base of canary yellow (tweety-esque) with white tips.  She swears it will be the next big thing.  I had to talk to my fashion conscious, so when I got back to Tweety HQ, I told our trusty little birdie the story.  Tweety said that it is worth trying out the trend.  Tweety has always been very successful wearing bright yellow, plus it is the buzz worthy trend, and I can still wear my daisy pendant!  Tweety and I, recommend trying out this trend, and being the first of your friends to set the bar, because if you make it work, they will surely follow.  After all, birds of a feather do tend to flock together!
