Tweety Weekend Cocktail: rainy day

April showers bring May flowers…or so I am told.

Today our beloved NYC took on gray skies all day and we here at Tweety HQ had a less than sunny disposition. The rain, which is predicted to continue through tonight, has just made the stay-at-home option that much more appealing. The real task: getting your friends to take on the unwanted task of heading out in the rain to come by your nesting pad. So you lure your friends to come to you with the promise of yummy cocktails and good tunes, and since you’ve got the goods, the friends come-a-knocking. Of course, it is then, only moments after you congratulate yourself for your negotiating skills, that you remember all you have in the fridge is old mustard and a lime, and uhh, oh right your ipod broke last week.

No worries. Tweety, who is well accustomed to escaping sticky situations (years of death by ingestion threats from Sylvester will do that to you) has got you covered. After reading this genius suggestion by Sunniebgi, we are offering you this cocktail sendoff.

Now is the time to use that bottle of Rum your ex-girlfriend insisted you buy for when you and the boys are drinking beers, but as predicted, she only took one little shot. Pour the entire bottle into a bowl over ice. Then use your muscles to squeeze every lest drop of that lime into it, and add about half a cup of sugar (for one whole bottle of rum). Stir it up and stick a big ladle in. Tell your buddies you specifically wanted to bring them a light tropical drink to remind everyone of the warmer weather on the horizon.

Suddenly you’re the hostess with the most-ess again. (Oh, and about the music check out Pandora.com – no thank you necessary.)

Trend Setters Chose Yellow as Winter Color

While Tweety can be seen sporting yellow feathers throughout the whole year, the general rule of fashionistas is to save the happy color of yellow for the warmer days of spring and summer. Recently however, taste-makers have been taking a bright cue from Tweety by trading in staid black winter gowns of yesteryear for brighter, more sun-inspired creations. Case in point: Blake Lively, playing Serena on Gossip Girls, was seen “tulle-ing” around town in a canary yellow Michael Kors dress. From W magazine, the elite source of fashion reporting, to Fab Sugar, a respected fashion trend reporter in the blogosphere, Livley’s bright, Tweety-like dress has generated enough chirping and buzz to officially call yellow the new “fill in dark winter color of choice here.” This is just further proof that Tweety, who predicted the wearing-yellow-in-winter trend way before everyone else, really is a hot chick.

A Birds Eye View of SAG Red Carpet Fashion

There is nothing Tweety loves more than a red carpet event full of fashion. Well, except for a yellow carpet event full of great fashion, which we here is hitting the NYC scene very soon. However, it was the more traditional walkway from Sunday night’s 75th Annual SAG Awards that has the fashion gossipers buzzing. While we have scoured the blogosphere for everyone’s personal favorites, we are most interested in what our little chick-adoo felt stood out from a surprisingly well dressed group. With both the WGA writers strike and the rain putting a heavy cloud over the evening, Tweety favored these lovely ladies who brought sunshine and brightness to an otherwise gloomy day.

Kate_beckinsale

The big winner of the night, well at least in Tweety’s eyes, was Kate Beckinsale, who gracefully adorned a bright yellow Luisa Beccaria gown. Tweety loves canary yellow, as we have seen by the always present coat of feathers in the same hue, and so it is no surprise that Kate’s bright (smart) choice left Tweety chirping.

Debra_messing Vanessa_williams

While Beckensile was defiantly the front runner on the runway, Tweety also took note of other sun inspired gowns worn by Vanessa Williams and Debra Messing. As evil Willimina on Ugly Betty, Williams took on a brighter note in a marigold Escada gown. Messing brought her usual sense of cheer and fun choosing a gold beaded Oscar de la Renta floor length sheath to bring a helping dose of sunshine to the overcastted evening.
