Little Yellow Dress

Wearing brightly colored clothing can be a challenge, especially in New York where everyone favors black so much. So it was with great delight that Tweety spotted a classy celebrity showing everyone how to wear Tweety's signature color.

The tabloids read over the Weekend "Liz Hurley upstages the bride AGAIN as she steps out in a canary yellow dress." The 42-year-old actress, model, and businesswoman looked spectacular in a wide-brimmed white hat and adorable yellow dress with ruffled collar. Hurley wore this outfit to a friend's English society wedding, and she clearly took the spotlight.

This all points to something that Tweety has been saying for a long time now, that it's possible to make a big splash in yellow without being ostentatious. While her dress color choice drew attention to herself, it was in the most flattering of ways. The London Mail called her "stunning." Tweety applauds.

Tweety's Top Picks for Spring Accessories

Recently, most fashion chicks have been adorning the gutsy yellow fashion our dear Tweety inspired decades ago. Tweety, always a tastemaker, wears a full yellow outfit of yellow, and so as to not over power the look, opts for a less in your face orange color for footwear. Together the yellow ensemble paired with the orange wedges combine to create a very haute couture look. For those of us that can not rise to the fashion standards set by our little yellow feathered friend, we tend to go for small installments of the color de jour, like sparkles of yellow gemstones from Tweety Fine Jewelry, a handful of yellow with a bright new yellow bag, or a first-step in the yellow trend direction with a fun pair of yellow shoes. Yellow jewelry is easy. No other jewelry line is as simultaneously trendy and classic as the Tweety Fine Jewelry collection. For handbags we recommend the lively yellow patent tote from Dooney & Bourke, which is the perfect size for all a gals holdings, and adds a great hue of brightness to an otherwise dull outfit. Finally, for shoes we turn to the Mecca of fashion reporting, W magazine, who favored this easy pair of yellow flip flops from Banana Republic. Hey, we can’t all pull off Tweety’s orange wedges, and the patent shine adds a dash of fanciness to the usual flip flop. With these key accessories, you are on you way to the top of the fashion ladder. Although don’t forget, no one flies higher than our iconic Tweety.

Weekend Sendoff: Yellow Fashion

We interrupt our regular scheduled programming to bring you this news breaking update: A full page dedicated to Tweety inspired yellow fashion-must-haves. Ok, so it is not such a deviation from our normal course, since we did bring you – dear readers – a much belated cocktail sendoff on Wednesday. So, while we won’t send you off with a nice drink to enjoy over the weekend, we are sending you off with a shopping list full of all the yellow fashion you need to conquer the yellow trend that is all the rage this spring. With the nice weather making a more permanent appearance these days (although today our tails are a little chilly) we recommend putting down your cocktail, and heading out into the city on a much desired shopping safari. I am sure you will notice that there is no jewelry on this page of Allure’s yellow “fashion cravings.” This is obviously because everyone knows the only choice to enhance yellow fashions are earrings, bracelets, rings, and necklaces from the Tweety Fine Jewelry Collection!

We return back to your regular scheduled programming next week. Have a great weekend!

Yellow down to our fingertips...

I walked into my local manicure parlor, in our beloved NYC, and I encountered a somewhat odd experience.  I told the manicurist I wanted a French manicure.  I have been wearing my Tweety Daisy pendant (Tweety Fine Jewelry) in light of the pleasant spring weather that is upon us, and I thought it would look best with a classic French. The manicurist, thinking she was a stylist, said that the next big trend for nails will be a yellow French manicure.  I gave her an odd look, so she explained: put a base of canary yellow (tweety-esque) with white tips.  She swears it will be the next big thing.  I had to talk to my fashion conscious, so when I got back to Tweety HQ, I told our trusty little birdie the story.  Tweety said that it is worth trying out the trend.  Tweety has always been very successful wearing bright yellow, plus it is the buzz worthy trend, and I can still wear my daisy pendant!  Tweety and I, recommend trying out this trend, and being the first of your friends to set the bar, because if you make it work, they will surely follow.  After all, birds of a feather do tend to flock together!

Flights of Fancy

We have always know that our beloved Tweety is quit the little jet-setter.  Hey, if I had a set of wings ready for flight at the flap of a feather, I would also be bouncing around the world.  Tweety goes from city to city scoping out the latest trends, and then reports back to us here at Tweety HQ, so that we stay in the loop.  So what news has dear Tweety brought us this time?  We forward along to you these two bits of Tweety news from the recent Tweety expedition:  First up, yellow fashion popped up all over Tweety’s bird’s eye view, making it official that the Tweety inspired yellow hue is the color du jour for spring.  We knew this trend had hit the streets of NYC, but now we see it is universal.  Second, Tweety racked up quit a bit frequent flyer miles on the little flight of fancy and is planning the next big vacation soon.  Where will Tweety be landing next?  My super secret sources tell me that Tweety will be nesting up in the famous Las Vegas Venetian Hotel for a very long weekend towards the end of May.  We will be sending a secret spy blogger to track Tweety during Vegas jewelry week, to bring you in the moment news about what are little yellow feathered friend is up to?  More news to come…

They Call Me Mellow Yellow

On a day when we should be seeing splashes of green all over NYC, it seems we are stilling heading for a Spring filled with shades of yellow. Or yellow shades I should say, like the ones seen on the runway of Karl Lagerfeld’s Spring 2008 collection. Tweety has always believed in the happier world of everything yellow, and even though Lagerfeld is a fashion god (Lagerfeld is the head of the Chanel Design House) let us not forget who started the yellow fashion craze. Our only hope is that when you put on a pair of yellow sunglasses that you can still make out Tweety’s lovely figure, because we would hate for our little yellow birdie to camouflage into the background of your yellow-tinted view.

Who said yellow was mellow?

Not only is Tweety a trend setter for all fabulous fashionistas this spring, but our feathered friend is now providing inspiration to the budget babes as well! Arriving for H&M in their spring ’08 line is this bright canary yellow trench, which helps the rain go away with a great hood and a color that rings a note of sunnier days. At a great price, this jacket is a must addition to any spring wardrobe.

Fly Away Little Biride♠

Tweety has always been a fan of polyester.  Let’s face it, our little birdie has been reproduced in the stuffed-animal form out of polyester more times then we can even imagine.  So, Tweety was ecstatic to see this picture next to an article entitled Synthetically Speaking, in this month W’s magazine.  The dress, which is part of Lavin’s spring 2008 collection, is made of polyester that the designer said was perfect to create clothing that could “fly away.” We here at Tweety HQ can’t help but hold back the joy of seeing another designer use the Tweety yellow hue that we all know and love to create amazing designs that ring a note of our flying little birdie.

Birds of a Feather Flock Together

If there was one emerging theme worth focusing on from the Oscar’s red carpet this year it was the array of feathers that were flying off of the beautiful couture dresses that the stars adorned. Of course it came as no surprise to us, since we are well aware of the longevity that feathers have in fashion. Case in point: Tweety has adorned feathers since the early forties, and we all know what a fashion icon our little birdie has been through the past six decades. While Tweety’s yellow feathers are the “it color” for spring accessories, these stars chose more subdued colors to fit into the black-tie rules of the Academy Awards. Deep down though, they wish they could flock to a different tune, and flaunt the Tweety yellow feathers that every one seems to love.
